What does it cost per square foot to remodel?
A. When considering remodeling your home, you need to remember that it isn't
like going out and buying something off the shelf or out of a showroom. There
are no set per square foot costs in remodeling. Each project is unique to
you, based upon your selections. One client may choose tile floors and another
will choose vinyl. A project can have stock cabinetry and the next project
custom cabinetry and trims. Personal needs, preferences, material, size of
project and other factors contribute to the cost variations of each project.
No two projects are identical.

How long does it take to do a project?
A. That depends on the project. Each project requires preparation and planning
prior to construction and then the construction can begin. The size, scope
of work and details in your particular project will determine how long it
will take. We then add additional days for unforeseen circumstances and the
items that you may add after construction begins. We always communicate the
projected schedule well in advance of starting construction.
Do you do all the work yourself?
A. As a General Contractor, we will do some of the work ourselves and some
will be subcontracted as part of the contract. We only use high quality, licensed
(where applicable) contractors. You can feel confident that we only use subcontractors
that meet or exceed our high standards of quality and service.
Will there be a mess during the construction?
Will I have to clean up?
A. While construction is messy and a disruption to your family, we try to
minimize that inconvenience as much as possible. All of our contracts include:
Property protection, as needed for the project
Daily pick up of the site
Debris removal
Changing furnace filters, as needed for the project
Will you be the lowest bidder
for my project?
A. Quite frankly, we will probably not be the lowest bidder. But, you will
find that our pricing is fair considering the quality of our service and workmanship.
The level of service we provide before, during, and after the project sets
us apart. Low bidders may not stay in business long. Therefore, when you need
warranty work done, a low bidder may well have closed up shop long ago leaving
you to pay twice for what you thought was already paid for! Low bids may not
include supervision of your home during all phases of construction or the
property protection and clean up that is needed to provide you with a high
quality, low hassle project.
I am getting three to five estimates on
my project, and I am not looking for the lowest bidder. Would you like to
bid on my project as well?
A. Thank you, but no. We will enter a project bid against one other reputable
construction company, if your plans and specifications are already completed.
We do not anticipate that we will be the lowest bidder. We look to be the
contractor of choice for the personal service and quality we offer our clients.
Remember, you will be living with the contractor you choose, 5 days per week,
for the duration of your project. If you choose soley based on price, you
may be disappointed.
Are you licensed and insured?
A. Licensing of general contractors is not required in Naperville. We obtain
our city occupational licenses as needed for permits in each particular city.
Electricians and plumbers need to be licensed in Illinois . We use only licensed
subcontractors in these trades. We carry a full complement of business insurance
for your and our protection, including business liability, workman's compensation,
auto, etc. A certificate of insurance is issued to you, for your project, after
receipt of a signed contract and deposit.
Do you have references?
A. Absolutely! Since our business is comprised of 98% referrals we have a wide
variety of residential and commercial references. We encourage you to call
them and check us out even before we meet. This will help you check us out
at a very early stage in your project!
How do I find the right contractor for my
project?
A. Interview the contractors you may be interested in. Ask lots of questions!
Does the contractor listen to your needs for the project? Your first priority
is in finding a contractor that you feel comfortable with. The one that you
can live with for 5 days per week for the duration of your project. You need
to know that you can communicate with this person and trust him to look out
for your best interests while completing the project.
Who needs to be at the initial consultation
meeting?
A. All parties who will need to make decisions regarding the project should
meet. We have found that when all parties are not present, there is sometimes
a miscommunication about what the project is to entail. We find it beneficial
for our clients and RCA to have everyone involved with the "Project"
to participate during the interview process.
What projects do you accept?
A. See Our Services page. It is important to us that
the project is a good fit for you as well as for us. The level of service
we offer our clients dictates that we can only complete a limited number of
projects per year. We would be glad to talk to you about yours!
What areas of the city
do you work in?
A. Our primary trade area is the Dupage County in Illinois, although
our projects do occasionally take us to other areas. If you have a question
as to whether your project will fit with our area, just give us a call or
drop us an email. The towns that we generally service are listed on our "Contact
Us"page.
Do I start with an architect or a builder?
A. If you are sure of what you want and know your budget, then start with
an architect. If you are not sure, then start with a contractor.
We hope this page has helped answer some questions you
may have. If you have others just let us know! We'll be glad to help! Contact
